I read this book after seeing it recommended by a fellow Buckeye for a Buckeye Bingo Square! I found it very interesting and liked learning more about Tourette Syndrome. It was heartwarming to have Aven [the armless girl] bond with Connor [with Tourette's] and Zion [weight/self-esteem issues] and to see them supporting and growing stronger with their mutual support.

I used this book for the agricultural [farming/gardening] Brutus Bingo square and found it to be a fun read. This is my first exposure to anything by Sandler - I especially enjoyed the British setting and the language differences from the English spoken here in the States. I also enjoyed the restoration gardening project and learning more about orchids. My favorite characters had to be the cats and dogs!!

The Girl Who Was Taken

I love Charlie Donlea’s books. They’re horrible in content but I devour them every time especially his back and forth with the past and present writing and being unsure of who the narrator is until the end. Shocking and so disturbing.

Lawn Boy

I read this for a 'Summer Job' book bingo square. It is a 'Middle Grade' level and I found it very disturbing as to how the 12 yo main character was manipulated by 'Arnold'. The boy certainly had a good work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit , but I disliked how 'shady' the whole enterprise seemed.

The 21st book in the Walt Longmire series was a good read - especially the first 75% or so. It really slowed down for me as we neared the end. I did enjoy the Wyoming history and traveling the longest postal route in the country - over 300 miles daily - WOW!!

Some Choose Darkness

This is the first in the new Rory Moore/Lane Phillips series. I have now read all of Charlie Donlea's crime thrillers and they do not disappoint. Rory is a forensic reconstructionist and her work with cold case homicides is remarkable!! I liked the use of multiple timelines and POVs and was intrigued by her restoration of porcelain dolls.

The Wild One

I finally finished this book in the wee hours of this morning - it was almost a 'DNF' but I needed a 'Summer Camp' book. For the most part, I found it to be extremely wordy/repetitive/boring. The last quarter or so was more interesting to me and I am glad I 'hung in there!!'.

Summer Sisters
by JUDY BLUME

I needed a book with 'Summer' in the title for my SRP Book Bingo and chose Juney Blume's 'Summer Sisters'. This is actually the first book I have read by her. Overall, I enjoyed it even though it was more 'chick lit/romance' than my usual tendencies! I found both of the primary female characters [Vix and Caitlyn] to be somewhat likeable and I did want to see how things were going to proceed. I wouldn't want a steady diet of this type of book, but one a year is fine!!!
